Coldest Night of the Year February 26th

Coldest Night of The Year (CNOY)- Saturday February 26, 2022

Saturday February 26, 2022 marks the beginning of the Ebenezer week of support for homeless individuals in our community. We will begin with the CNOY walk on Saturday February 26, 2022 and finish with the Out of the Cold (OOTC) lunches the following week on Saturday March 5, 2022.

Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) is the name of the walk that raises money for Blue Door. Blue Door is our partner that runs the Out Of The Cold program three nights a week at Ebenezer.  By participating in this fundraiser and walking in the cold, we are reminded of the impact and challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness.  We hope that you will be able to join us for some fun, some laughs, and some Ebenezer comradeship!!!

Here are the details!

  1. Our team’s name is Ebenezer Rocks!
  2. When: Saturday February 26, 2022 at 1 p.m.
  3. Where: Ebenezer United Church. We will walk approximately 1 km north on Brimley and then return.
  4. How: Sign up to walk and then fundraise with your family and friends. This link will take you right to our Ebenezer Rocks! page: https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/TeamFundraisingPage.aspx?teamID=972949&langPref=en-CA
  5. Don’t feel comfortable walking in a group setting but would still like to walk? NO PROBLEM!! Simply sign up with our group (Ebenezer Rocks!) and then choose your own day and route to walk. (Use the same link as above).
  6. Walking is not for you, but you would like to support the Ebenezer group? NO PROBLEM!! It is easy to donate. Simply click on the same link (above) and go to the DONATE tab. You will notice that the receipt states Blue Sea Foundation as the name of the registered Canadian Charity. Donations of $20.00 or more will receive a charitable receipt.
  7. Toques:  When Adult participants fundraise a minimum of $150, and youth (17 and under) raise $75.00, you will receive a cozy 2022 CNOY toque. We will let you know when the toques are available (after the walk).
  8. Everyone who walks with our group, whether in person or on your own, will receive a thank you gift bag!!!
  9. ***This event qualifies for High School community hours. If would like to gain community hours for school, be sure to make a note of your hours spent fundraising and walking. This event counts towards your hours!!***

We hope and pray for the world to continue to working together to stop COVID-19 and to support, comfort, and heal all those who  are ill, both in body and spirit, suffer from isolation and financial hardship, and most of all, those who are mourning the loss of loved ones as well.

The United Church of Canada Foundation

What you should know

The United Church of Canada Foundation was established in 2002 to manage trusts and endowments to support the work of the church. A number of funds have been created. Congregations benefit from the Foundation in many ways including grants to support congregations for the service provided to their communities. Ebenezer acknowledges being awarded one such grant and truly appreciates the generosity of the Foundation. Click here to download a brochure about the Foundation.
